  • 1 cup washed chana dal
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups milk
  • 4 tblsp pure ghee
  • Nuts to garnish
  • Cardamom powder half tsp


  • Heat 2 tblsp ghee in a vessel.
  • Roast the washed chana dal in it until roasted n light brown.
  • Remove without the ghee and let it cool.
  • Now make a coarse powder of the roasted dal.
  • Add 2 more tblsp ghee to the remaining ghee in the vessel and heat it on low flame.
  • Add the chana dal powder and mix it with the ghee. Now add the milk gradually and keep on stirring.
  • Once the milk is absorbed stir it for 2 to 3 minutes then add half the nuts to the halwa mixture, mix well.
  • Now add the sugar and mix it until dissolved and keep stirring until the ghee separates.
  • Remove in a serving dish and garnish with the remaining nuts.
