Ingredients

  • 1 bowl bengal gram
  • 1 bowl green gram
  • 1/2 bowl black gram
  • 1/2 bowl red gram
  • 1 bowl raw rice
  • 1 whole garlic
  • 1/2 tea spoon turmeric powder
  • 1 and 1/2 tea spoon salt to taste
  • 3 whole Green Chillies
  • 1 bowl coriander leaves
  • 10 grams ginger

Instructions

  • Take a bowl and wash the bengal gram, green gram, black gram, red gram and rice with water.
  • Filter the water out and mix the bengal gram, green gram, black gram, red gram and rice in a big bowl.
  • Now add water to the bowl until the mixture is dipped completely.
  • Cover the bowl with a plate and keep the mixture for 8 hours dipped in water.
  • After 8 hours grind the mixture in a mixer.
  • Now keep the grined mixture in a covered vessel for 12 hours.
  • After 12 hours create a paste from coriander, ginger, garlic, chillies, salt in a mixer.
  • Mix this paste with the dal mixture along with turmeric and mix well with a spoon.
  • Place the appe maker on the gas and allow it to heat.
  • Add little oil to each block and then fill each block with the mixture.
  • Cover the appe maker with a plate for 5 minutes.
  • After 5 minutes remove the plate and turn the appe with a spoon.
  • Allow the other side to heat for about 5 minutes ( do not cover with a plate this time )
  • Remove the appe in a plate and serve with pudina or coconut chutney.
