Poha is a traditional and widely preferred recipe in Western parts of India. It is also known as Pohe in Maharashtra.

Ingredients

  • 8-10 leaves curry leaves(Kadipatta)
  • 1 pinch asafoetida(Hing)
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt as per the taste
  • 1 tablespoon Grated coconut
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds (Jeera)
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 finely chopped Green Chili
  • 2 cups Thick poha(Rice flakes)
  • 1/3 cup Medium Onion
  • 2 tablespoons coriander leaves
  • 2 tablespoons Oil
  • 1.5 tablespoons peanuts (ground nuts)

Instructions

  • Take poha in large strainer.
  • Wash it by gently swifting them with the fingers under the running water. Drain the excess water through the strainer and keep it aside.
  • Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in the pan.
  • Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, green chili, curry leaves, peanuts and a pinch of asafoetida. Keep it for 30-40 seconds.
  • Add chopped onions and saute until the onions become translucent.
  • Add salt and turmeric powder. Mix well and stir it for a minute.
  • Add soaked poha and stir.
  • Cook for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add lemon juice, grated coconut and finaely chopped coriander leaves.
  • Mix well and turn off the gas. Poha is ready to be served :)
